Imprisonment of Imran Khan-Bushra Bibi for un-Islamic marriage



Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been sentenced to seven years in prison for having an un-Islamic marriage.


On Saturday (February 3), the judicial court set up inside the Adiala jail passed the sentence in the presence of the accused. Apart from seven years imprisonment, each of them was also fined Rs.5 lakh.


Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Maneka filed the case. A total of four people testified in the case. Apart from this, the statements of accused Imran and Bushra were also taken under Section 342 of the Penal Code.

Bushra’s ex-husband Khawar Maneka alleged that Bushra had an illegal marriage with Imran Khan. Because, when Bushra got divorced from him – then according to Allah’s law, he could marry another person after at least three months. But she married Imran during the Iddat without obeying Allah’s law


Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi is under house arrest after being convicted in another case. He was taken from home to Adiala jail on Saturday. Imran Khan is imprisoned in that prison. Their lawyers were also present during the ruling against the non-Islamic marriage. Earlier, the case was heard inside the jail on Friday
