Liam Payne’s former partner, pop singer Cheryl, has called for media restraint following the tragic death of the One Direction band member. Payne, who rose to global fame with One Direction, died at the age of 31 after falling from a third-floor hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires on October 17, 2024.

Cheryl, who was in a relationship with Payne between 2016 and 2018, urged the media to consider the impact of their coverage on their seven-year-old son, Bear. She expressed her grief and emphasized the need to protect their son from the distressing details of the incident.

In her statement, Cheryl said, “As I try to navigate this earth-shattering event and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.” She further added, “What is troubling my spirit the most is that one day Bear will have access to the abhorrent reports and media exploitation we have seen in the past two days. It is breaking my heart further.”
