Salah Zangana and his literary biography

Salah Zangana is a distinguished Iraqi writer and storyteller whose work has received significant critical acclaim. Around 80 articles and critical studies have been written about his literary achievements, and his stories have been the subject of numerous master’s and doctoral theses in Iraqi universities.

A book analyzing his narrative style, Narrative Structure in the Short Story: A Study of the Stories of Salah Zangana, was published by critic Samir Abdul Rahim Agha (Amjad Publishing and Distribution House, Amman, 2015). Some of his stories have been translated into English, French, German, Spanish, and Kurdish. He has also been widely interviewed in Iraqi and Arab newspapers and online media.

  • Creatives Award for Short Stories (2002, Dubai) – for his collection There is a Dream, There is a Fever.
  • Best Short Story Writer Award (2013, Oyoun Magazine Poll, Iraq).
