India doesn’t condone Hasina’s remarks

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri says India does not ‘endorse’ deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s criticism of Bangladesh’s interim government.

Appearing before the Indian Parliament’s Standing Committee on External Affairs, he said that Hasina’s remarks have become a ‘source of discomfort’ in the relations between the two countries.

Misri came to Dhaka on Monday for a meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart amid rising tensions and conflicting statements made by the neighbouring countries since the ousting of the Awami League government. He returned home that same day.
