SIU, Sylhet: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Sylhet International University (SIU) today held a special event to honor its top student programmers. The university gave out the “Coder of the Month” awards for February 2025 in a ceremony on campus today, 30 April 2025.

Fuad Hasan, a student from the 3-2 semester (Registration No. 43002), was awarded the “Coder of the Month” for his excellent skills in programming and problem-solving. “I’m very happy to have received it,” he told DT Editor after the event. Other winners were, Second place: Foyzia Sultana (46012) – 2-1 semester, Third place: Nadira Nasir Neha (46008) – 2-1 semester, Fourth place: Foreda Jannat Eva (46009) – 1-2 semester, Fifth place: Pritam Das (47025) – 1-2 semester.

Many important people from the university were present at the event. These included Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam, Treasurer Prof. Nitai Chandra Chanda, Dean Mr. Khaled Hussain, and Head of the CSE Department Mr. Md. Umor Faruk Jahangir.

Mr. Hussain praised the students and organizers, saying, “These contests are a great way for students to improve their coding skills.” The Vice-Chancellor and Treasurer also thanked everyone who attended and congratulated all the winners and participants.

Mr. Jahangir encouraged more students to take part in future contests and asked them to attend these events in person. He also thanked the university leadership for always supporting academic and extracurricular activities.

The “Coder of the Month” program is part of the Department of CSE, SIU’s goal to support student learning, innovation, and technical growth.
